Easter Was Hoppin'!

What do you do when it rains cats and dogs ALL weekend long?  Well, you have your Easter egg hunts inside.  Yeah, the kids (and by "kids," I mean BLAKE) weren't too happy about that!  But hey, candy is candy, right?  Lola loved finding eggs and Blake loved finding the stuff INSIDE the eggs!  All-in-all, we had a great Easter weekend together as a family.  And I am proud to say I stayed away from chocolate.  Though, as you readers know, I dabbled in the jelly beans.  And they KEEP taunting me.  Anyway, here are some photos from the weekend (I know they are out of order, but you get the idea)!

HAPPY! :)

Well, today has been a little better than last Monday so this should be a tad easier! ;)  I mean, sure, it's SUPER annoying that my kids are currently fighting over everything they can find.  But I'm trying to remember to take DEEP breaths.  Slowly.  And count to ten.   You get what I'm sayin'!  Anyway, here are five things that make me happy!

1.  Thinking about the fact that Billy took a frozen container of spaghetti sauce to work and ate it as if it were soup!!! *SHUDDER*  That seriously makes me want to vomit.  But it also makes me laugh!  You see, I freeze meals during the week so he has things to take to Louisville when he goes back on Monday morning.  I always tell him EXACTLY what to take so I'm not sure why he grabbed the frozen container of spaghetti sauce?!?  Alas, he did.  And he couldn't figure out why the soup tasted so weird.  Seriously?  Who couldn't identify spaghetti sauce?  Anyway, it's funny, right?

2.  If you know me, you know I love Easter candy.  So I'm happy right now because I scored some awesome deals on 1/2 price candy today....as if I needed it.  No, no I didn't.  But still.....who can pass up 1/2 price candy?  (Probably everyone but me).....

3.  The fact that I limited myself to about 100 jelly beans yesterday.  Yes, the candy was very tempting.  And yes, I bought more today.  But I'm not eating it until I'm done with my super diet.  I didn't mean to eat 100 jelly beans (give or take ten) but I couldn't help it.  Starburst jelly beans=total awesomeness!

4.  I'm happy that Lola has just now figured out how to open AND unlock the sliding glass door in the kitchen.  Oh.  Wait.  That brings other emotions out besides the happy.  It's actually super annoying.  But on the positive, she's a smart cookie to figure that out!  Bravo, Lola!  You have come up with EVEN more ways to stress your mama out!

5.  My treadmill.  It makes me happy!  Still.  Even though Lola drew on it with a crayon over the weekend.  Word.

Stay happy AND dry out there, folks!  :)

This Just In.......

Blake has broken up with his girlfriend, Maddie.  You all remember the sweet drawing he did of her, right?  Well, he came and home yesterday and told me he had to break up with her.  Why?  He told her (in these words), "Being your boyfriend just isn't going to work out."  Huh.  And there ya have it.  My son, the heart breaker!  He did inform me they would remain friends but that he is now "single."  It was very hard to keep a straight face.  But I did giggle on the inside.  For a long time!  I just had to share! :)

HAPPY! :)

It has been a ROUGH week.  And I do mean ROUGH.  I decided to write this blog while my kids are still awake.  Because when I put them to bed, I get no relief!  Blake wakes up about 20 times a night (but that's news for a whole different blog post)!!!!  So while I'm still relatively "happy," I figured I should blog.  That sure makes sense to me! :)

1.  I'm happy because the lemon zest cookie is back at Paradise Bakery.  And I may or may not have about 18 (give or take...) in my freezer right now!  Oh yeah.  I'm a hoarder of cookies.  And I'm not ashamed.  Well, maybe a little.....

2.  I've been consistent with my diet AND with exercising for an ENTIRE week with no mistakes (thus the "frozen" condition of the lemon zest cookies).  I should also mention that I'm very hungry.  But I'm happy that I've actually been behaving myself.

3.  I'm happy that soccer season started again.  Well, I should say, the games have started again.  Blake plays all year long.  He scored one goal on Saturday and his team won 3-0.  It was a tough game.  And very cold.  But it was worth watching!

4.  I'm happy that lots of shows are new this week!  WOO HOO for all of us tv addicts out there!  I will be very busy this week, at least.  Not doing anything productive or meaningful, mind you.  But I will be living in fantasy world while watching all my shows!

5.  I'm pretty happy at this exact moment because Lola is brushing the floor.  Yeah.  I'm pretty sure that's why I bought her a brush.  But whatever.  She's occupied and I'm smiling!  It's obviously a win-win!

Have a jolly good week, my friends!  And leave comments.  That would make me the happiest girl on earth (maybe......there might be someone happier than me but I'm not sure who it is)!!!  But seriously, I'm NOT happy because people don't leave comments anymore.  Well, not many people.  Maybe my readers have left me?  Or I'm boring now?  Or something.  That makes me sad......But now I'm watching Lola again and I'm happy.  All is right in the world (for now......)! :)

STRIKE!

Well, I didn't bowl any stirkes.  In fact, the pro bowling league will not be phoning me up any time soon (EVER)!!!  I can't believe how bad I am at bowling!  Alas, Blake wanted to go!  So for his last day of spring break, we headed to Pinheads.  Where I bowled.....really poorly.  Blake won both games.  Yeah.  For reals.  I guess that means Billy isn't much better than me (he's not....)!  Lola had a little bit of fun.  Until the end.  When I had to stop bowling and chase her around the alley.  Yeah.  Always fun!

HAPPY! :)

Billy opening his presents!

I can't believe I didn't post a happy blog last week.  I guess it was because we had just gotten home the day before and had all kinds of drama with a sick dog!  YAY (sarcasm!  But today.....well, today, I have lots of reasons to be happy!  It's my Billy's birthday!  So I thought I'd do an extra special happy blog....all about the 5 things about Billy that make me happy! :)

1.  He works super hard for our family.  So hard, in fact, that he took a great job in a different city....a different state, even.  I miss him like crazy and I'm quite sad that he isn't here with us on his special day.  I know it's "just another day" but not to me!  I love to go cccccrrrazzzyyy on birthdays!

2.  He gives super awesome back massages.  I mean, he is a chiropractor, right?!?  He has to know how to fix backs! :)

3.  He is an excellent father and a wonderful husband.  For reals.  It broke my heart today when I went in to get Lola and all she wanted was her daddy.  She cried and cried.  Both Blake and Lola love spending time with Billy.  Oh, and I do, too! I guess I should say that!

4.  He laughs at my jokes.  Since I think I would be a bang-up performer on Last Comic Standing....it's nice to know I would have some support (even if only from my husband and my dear friend, Jenny)! ;)

5.  He is supportive of my writing and genuinely (or he is an excellent actor, too) thinks I can be published at some point in my life!

I could go on and on and on!  Basically, Billy is awesome! :)  We miss him every day.  I can't wait until we can spend all birthdays and holidays TOGETHER!  Happy birthday, Billy!  We LOVE you! :)

Be happy everyone!  Because what else would you rather be?!? ;)

HOCKEY.....the ice kind not the air kind.....

We experienced our first NHL game while in Columbus.  (I promise, this is my last post about our ventures in Ohio).  The day didn't start out great when my purse strap broke.  I obviously didn't bring a spare on our 2 day get-away.  What was I thinking?  I guess I should always be prepared (especially now that Blake is into scouting....isn't that the motto, after all?)!  Anyway, my purse broke so I looked like a pretty big dork.  Then my camera broke after the teams started warming up.  So I'm sorry to say I don't have many pictures to post (I know most of you are doing silent...or very loud cheers)!!!!

Okay so first let me point out a few things.

1.  It is FREEZING cold inside hockey arenas.  Yes, of course it had to be.  How else could it fit into our fun-filled COLD weekend?  And of course I was, again, ill prepared.  Apparently I should have packed snuggies, ski masks, and gloves for the whole weekend.  Maybe then we would have been comfortable in our surroundings!

2.  The players don't really fight TOO much.  Although we did see a  pretty good tussle.  But just one.

3.  The Columbus Blue Jackets got POUNDED by the St. Louis Blues (6 to 1).  The fans were pretty subdued and Blake said he was bored.

4.  Lola didn't sit still like she does in most sporting events.  I guess she doesn't like hockey.  Although she did do well at the minor league hockey game in Indy.  Sorry, NHL.  I guess Lola doesn't like you.

5.  Some hockey players are very cute.  Our seats were almost at the top of the arena (GASP) so I couldn't see any of them up close.  But I was able to peruse the program pretty thoroughly!

After the game, we had to head home.  How long did it take?  Well it was supposed to take about 2 hours and 45 minutes.  But how many times did we stop and change Lola's diaper along the way?  THREE?  Yup.  Because that's how our luck goes.  Drive ten minutes.  Change a diaper.  Drive fifteen minutes.  Change a diaper.  You get the idea.  It didn't take 2 hours and 45 minutes.

We got closer to home and drove across Nameless Creek.  Well, over the bridge, across Nameless Creek. But seriously.  The person in charge of naming said creek really dropped the ball.  Cuz I think I could do better than that.  Granted, it did make me laugh a lot (on the inside because I was very tired...).  So then I thought we could use this tactic when naming anything (like a child, a pet, a car, etc....).  It could be quite useful.  But then we might have a lot of "nameless" things running around!

Jesse Owens

Blake did a project in school about Jesse Owens, the famous track and field star!  He was very excited to know we were in Columbus.  Jesse Owens went to Ohio State (gag) and though it was against every fiber in my being, I took my son to campus.  BLECH!  I apologize to all my friends and readers who may support THE Ohio State University.  I am not a fan.  But I took one for the team.  We drove around campus and then got out for a few pictures at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.  It really is a beautiful field.  There.  I said something nice about the Buckeye nation.  Kind-of.  And that's all you're gonna get!  ;)

Magic Mountain. But not THE Magic Mountain.

Our Columbus weekend blogs continue!  Because it was so cold (yes, I'm still talking about the weather) we had to resort to some inside activities.  We decided to go to a fun center called Magic Mountain.  Yeah, I wish I was at the REAL Magic Mountain, too.  But you know me.  And you know I love arcades.  So I was happy.....playing games and winning tickets!  That's how I roll!  Blake and Lola had fun, too!  Not only did we play tons of games, but Blake and Billy dabbled in a little laser tag, too!  I didn't get any photos of that, though (as you can surely understand with it being dark and all....).

We also had a great time at the hotel pool!  And by "we" I mean Billy, Blake and Lola.  I don't do the whole getting-in-a-bathing-suit-in-public thing!  You're welcome, world.  I should note that I will be making a trip to the beach in a couple months.  And when it comes to going to the beach, I can't miss the chance to get in the ocean.  I will indeed have to step into a bathing suit.  Sorry, world.  Anyway, my point is that the rest of my little family had a lot of fun in the pool and hot tub! :)  I had fun taking photos!
